Franklin Webber

I am a software engineer. I design, write, and test software. I also try to understand how to guarantee specific properties of software, particularly those that support security and reliability.

For the past decade I have primarily been supporting BBN Technologies doing DARPA-sponsored research on strengthening the resistance of computer systems to malicious attack. I have participated in the following projects and was Principal Investigator for the fourth:

• "Cognitive Support for Intelligent Survivability Management" (CSISM)
  This project was part of DARPA's Self-Regenerative Systems Program.
• "Designing Protection and Adaptation into a Survivability Architecture" (DPASA)
  This project was part of DARPA's OASIS Integration, Demonstration and Validation Program. The first phase of the project was a design competition, which our team, led by BBN, won. In the second phase, we built a system according to our design and during 2005, subjected it to attack by three separate, professional, "Red Teams".
• "Intrusion Tolerance by Unpredictable Adaptation"
• "Applications that Participate in their Own Defense"
